Belarus, Iraq discuss economic cooperation development prospects

MINSK, 23 August (BelTA) – The ways of intensifying trade and economic cooperation were discussed in a meeting between Director of the Department for Africa and Middle East of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus Igor Leshchenya and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq to the Republic of Belarus Haidar Hadi in Minsk on 22 August, BelTA learnt from the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.

The parties considered the most important issues of the bilateral agenda. “Special attention was turned to the development of the legal framework of the Belarusian-Iraqi cooperation. An agreement was reached to join efforts in order to bolster the cooperation between the ministries and departments of Belarus and Iraq as well as to exchange business visits between the countries for building up trade and economic cooperation,” the Foreign Ministry of Belarus said.

According to the ministry, “the parties also shared opinions on the key issues of the international and regional agenda.”
