Belarus’ Foreign Ministry: Lithuania has long got the answers on Belarus’ NPP, ignores them

MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – Lithuania was provided with full and comprehensive answers to its questions about the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant long ago. One just needs to read them, spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry Andrei Savinykh said as he commented on the remarks of Foreign Minister of Lithuania Linas Linkevicius regarding the construction of the Belarusian NPP, BelTA has learnt.

The official representative of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry stressed: “We are getting the impression that Mr. Linkevicius’ assistants fail to inform him properly.” According to Andrei Savinykh, all necessary information was provided to Lithuanian representatives almost a year ago. “For the time being, we suggested conducting consultations, that would help clear up any misunderstanding, three times. But all these efforts were left unanswered,” the Belarusian official said.

Andrei Savinykh added: “We have to state that the Lithuanian side has been trying by all fair means and foul to shy away from the events envisages in the Espoo Convention.”
