Belaruskali to sell fertilizers via Qatari company

MINSK, 5 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian potash manufacturer OAO Belaruskali signed a framework agreement with the Qatari company Muntajat on cooperation in joint sales of mineral fertilizers in Doha on 5 August. Muntajat specializes in the marketing and distribution of chemical and petrochemical products, Belaruskali’s representatives told BelTA.

The source underlined that the agreement is part of Belaruskali’s new sales strategy that was prompted by the resolution of OAO Uralkali’s board of directors on changes in business terms.

Muntajat is ready to sell up to 3 million tonnes of Belaruskali’s fertilizers per annum. There are plans to step up the presence of Belaruskali’s products on the markets the Belarusian company has not explored yet, noted the source.

OAO Belaruskali is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of potash fertilizers. It operates on the basis of the Starobin potash salts deposit and is getting ready to exploit the Petrikov deposit. The company’s output capacity is supposed to reach 11 million tonnes by the end of 2013 and 12.5 million tonnes by the end of 2020.
