Belarus’ government adopts action plan for H1 2014

MINSK (BelTA) – The Council of Ministers and the Presidium of the Council of Ministers have passed the action plan for H1 2014. The decision was approved by Council of Ministers’ Resolution No. 1165 passed on 30 December 2013, BelTA learnt from the government.

A session of the Council of Ministers in February is to review the country’s socio-economic development in 2013 and assess the feasibility of the targets set for the first quarter of 2014. Belarus’ socio-economic achievements in the first quarter will be analyzed at a session of the Council of Ministers in May. At the same session the feasibility of H1 targets will be analyzed.

A wide range of issues is to be discussed during sessions of the Presidium of the Council of Ministers. They include modernization (in particular, upgrade of Orsha Linen Mill), efficient use of state property, improvement of economic performance and mechanisms of state support for agribusiness, development of logistics, implementation of the state innovative development program for 2011-2015. The government will also review the fulfillment by Bellegprom Concern of the comprehensive light industry development program in 2013 and the industry’s development prospects and plans for the long-term perspective until 2020.

Top on the agenda will also be the fulfillment of the instructions of the President and the government on the development of the leather and footwear industry, modernization and technical upgrade of house building factories, the elaboration of the draft Eurasian Economic Union Treaty, and the development of the housing and utilities industry. The government will also discuss major approaches to the country’s socio-economic targets for 2015, the draft guidelines for the fiscal policy for 2015 and the mid-term financial program for 2015-2017 and other issues.

The Council of Ministers’ Resolution comes into force on the day it was passed.
