2014 declared Year of Hospitality in Belarus

MINSK (BelTA) – The year 2014 has been declared the Year of Hospitality in Belarus. It has been done for the sake of promoting tourism, creating a modern tourism infrastructure that takes into account the country’s geographical position, historical and cultural riches of Belarus, and for inspiring patriotic pride and respect for the home country among the Belarusians. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko signed the relevant decree on 27 December, the press service of the Belarusian leader told BelTA.

The government has been instructed to work together with the oblast administrations and the Minsk City Executive Committee in order to work out a national action plan for holding the Year of Hospitality and for ensuring the coordination of efforts of government agencies and other organizations in fulfilling the action plan.

The Year of Hospitality is believed to be able to focus efforts of government agencies, corporations and citizens on the development and effective use of Belarus’ tourism opportunities and on the organization of proper reception of the foreign visitors, who will arrive in Belarus to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the country’s liberation from the Nazi invaders and to attend events of the world ice hockey championship.
