Belarus-Italy road transportation commission meets in Rome

MINSK, 22 February (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Italian mixed commission for international road transportation of passengers and cargoes met in Rome on 21 February to discuss prospects of maximum involvement of Belarusian and Italian transport companies in the development of bilateral trade and transit services, BelTA learnt from the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.

The Belarusian delegation is led by Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Alexander Shishko. Partaking in the meeting are representatives of the Belarusian embassy in Italy.

“The participants of the meeting are looking into the passenger and cargo transportation statistics, discussing bilateral cargo transportation quotas and the ways to diversify the types of permits, including intermodal transport,” the Foreign Ministry said.

The mixed commission was founded following the Belarusian-Italian intergovernmental agreement on international passenger and cargo transportation signed on 4 June 2003. Its major objective is to elaborate positions on regular passenger transportation, passenger and cargo transportation permits, measures promoting road transportation between the two countries. The previous meeting took place in Minsk in April 2009.
