Drazhin: Regions contribute heavily to Belarus-Lithuania trade growth

VILNIUS, 21 February (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Lithuania Vladimir Drazhin took part in a meeting of the Board of the Association of Local Authorities in Lithuania to discuss the preparations for the 2nd Belarus-Lithuania Regional Cooperation Forum, BelTA has learnt.

Vladimir Drazhin informed the members of the Board of the Association as well as Lithuanian mayors on the prospects of Belarusian-Lithuanian relations, making an emphasis on the economic cooperation between the two states.

The Ambassador stressed that interregional relations make a basis of cooperation between Belarus and Lithuania. Regional business cooperation secures an annual 30% increase in mutual trade. Cooperation between Belarusian and Lithuanian regions has been steadily developing and has a real potential for further intensification.

The Belarusian diplomat also invited heads of Lithuanian regions to partake in the 9th International Belarusian-Lithuanian Economic Forum slated for April in Klaipeda.
