Boeing, Airbus jets to be painted in Belarus

MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) – A company painting Boeing and Airbus airplanes will be set up in Belarus, Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology Igor Voitov told reporters during a meeting with representatives of the Italian company Cimolai on 12 February, BelTA has learnt.

The Italian company plans to implement several major projects in Belarus. These projects include production of painting materials to paint Boeing and Airbus airplanes. “This is a high-tech business that will be started in Belarus. The new company might be set up together with Minsk Aircraft Repair Plant. The latter will be relocated outside the city.

Apart from that, the Italian company considers a possibility to start producing seamless pipes at Belarusian Steel Works. Representatives of the Italian company had already visited Zhlobin to study the prospects of the project. The Italian company might also build a factory to produce steelworks. This project might involve the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus that established a zinc plating plant in 2012.

The Italian investors are also ready to build inexpensive pools and other facilities in Belarus. The company will study projects to construct bridges and terminals. “We would like this company to start operations in Belarus,” Igor Voitov said.

Engineer at Cimolai Carmelo Bottecchia emphasized that within the next two days the company will decide which projects it will implement in Belarus. The investors are likely to choose steelworks production projects and construction projects.

At the end of March Belarus will host a forum on new technologies and investments. About 40 Italian companies will be invited to participate.
