January inflation in Belarus at 3%

MINSK, 11 February (BelTA) – Inflation in Belarus made up 3% in January 2013, BelTA learnt from the National Statistics Committee.

Thus, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in January 2013 made up 0.3% compared with the previous month.

In January the price index for industrial output totaled 1.5% from December 2012, for investment goods – 1.7%, for intermediate goods – 2%, and for consumer goods – 0.5%.

The price index for food was 1.5% in January from December 2012, including 3% in crop production and 1% in cattle breeding.

In January 2013 the price index in the construction sector made up 2.2% on December 2012, including 1.9% in building and assembly works, 1.7% in machinery and equipment, 5.5% in other works and expenditures.

Cargo transportation tariffs increased by 6% from December 2012. Communication services for corporate and individual clients became 3.1% more expensive in January 2013.

Inflation in Belarus is projected at 12% in 2013.
