Lukashenko demands better customer service in trade and public catering

MINSK, 8 February (BelTA) – President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has ordered to improve customer service in trade and public catering. The head of state said it at a meeting of Belсoopsoyuz consumer cooperative society on 8 February, BelTA has learnt.

“There should not be any mismanagement and negligence in the consumer cooperative society,” the President said.

Addressing the head and first deputy head of Belсoopsoyuz, Alexander Lukashenko said: “You are responsible for trade and public catering. You should bring order to this industry.”

The President noted that people living in remote areas complain of the work of rural stores and procurement companies of the consumer cooperative society, as well as disorder in the market. “People are very displeased with the work of the consumer cooperative society. You supervise about half of all the markets in Belarus. There has never been due order there,” the head of state said.

“The State Control Committee informed me that flaws are revealed during each inspection of trade facilities affiliated with the consumer cooperative society. The most common problem is the sale of poor quality and expired products,” the President said. In his words, such violations were detected twice in 71 stores, thrice in 8 stores and even five times in the Nadezhda store of the Slavgorod district consumer society, Mogilev Oblast. “It is getting dangerously common and should be treated as a crime, not as a flaw,” the President said.
