CIS plenipotentiaries to meet in Minsk 5 February

MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) – A meeting of the CIS Council of Plenipotentiary Representatives in Charter and Other Bodies of the Commonwealth will meet in Minsk on 5 February, BelTA learnt from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

The CIS plenipotentiaries will discuss draft international agreements for submission to the CIS Heads of State Council and the CIS Heads of Government Council in 2013. “Plenipotentiary representatives will outline measures for timely coordination of the draft international agreements,” the press service of the CIS Executive Committee noted. To date there are 39 draft international agreements for consideration by the CIS Heads of State Council and the CIS Heads of Government Council. The bulk of them cover the issues of economic and humanitarian cooperation.

At the meeting in Minsk plenipotentiary representatives will discuss the draft agenda of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council meeting which is due in Tashkent on 5 April. “The Foreign Ministers will consider the documents regulating the CIS cooperation in the political area, security, education, physical education, sports and tourism,” the press service said.

Plenipotentiary representatives will consider the proposals into the draft agenda of the forthcoming meeting of the CIS Heads of Government Council scheduled for 31 May in Minsk. The Council will look into more than 20 issues, including cooperation in environmental protection, the development of the CIS Bank of Patents and Innovations, coordination of interstate relations in the peaceful use of atomic energy. The CIS heads of government will outline measures for further strengthening of stability and security, cooperation in education.
