Sergei Stepashin: Union State cooperation helps fight global crises

MOSCOW, 28 February (BelTA) – Cooperation within the framework of the Union State of Belarus and Russia allows minimizing the negative influence of global crises. The opinion was voiced by Mr Sergei Stepashin, Chairman of the Accounts Chamber of Russia, at the joint session of the board of auditing agencies of Belarus and Russia in Moscow on 28 February, BelTA has learned.

“Despite the economic difficulties caused by the global crisis the volume of Belarus-Russia trade grows,” said Sergei Stepashin. “Last year it went up 10%. One can say that despite new challenges the economic situation in the Union State remains stable”.

According to Sergei Stepashin, the presence of the Union State is a good impulse for the development of the national economies of Belarus and Russia.

The official remarked that in the last few years the Union State budget volume grew considerably and its execution improved. He said that the execution of the Union State budget in 2011 exceeded 90% while the figure had been only two thirds before.
