Only full package of documents for Customs Union entrants

MINSK, 16 January (BelTA) – The countries that are willing to join the Customs Union of Belarus, Russia, and Kazakhstan have to sign all the documents the Customs Union has passed instead of some of them. The statement was made by Prime Minister of Russia Mr Dmitry Medvedev in his speech at the Gaidar forum in Moscow on 16 January, BelTA has learned.

Dmitry Medvedev underlined that the Customs Union and the Single Economic Space are open to other countries. “These are open projects, primarily for the CIS states,” he said. “However, our partners should share Customs Union principles and be ready to implement them. When one joins the Customs Union, it has to sign all the documents instead of some of them”.

The Prime Minister of Russia said that the overall pace of the economic development of the Customs Union member states is good. He also remarked that thanks to the conditions created in the Customs Union businesses can now choose in which Customs Union member state they can operate. State regulation systems now compete with each other, said Dmitry Medvedev. The official added that the Russian side has to take several measures in order not to lose the competition.
