Belarus-Israel cooperation discussed in Minsk

MINSK, 9 January (BelTA) – Igor Leshchenya, the chief of the Asia and Africa department of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus, has met with Yoram Dori, the Strategic Advisor to the President of the State of Israel. Yoram Dori arrived in Belarus as part of the delegation of the international educational project Limmud, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.

The parties pointed to the significant role of the large Belarusian diaspora in the development of Israel and the unique history of friendly relations of Belarusians and the Jewish community. They believe that it will serve the basis for the expansion of the bilateral cooperation.

The visit is timed to the anniversaries of prominent Israeli political figures born in Belarus: 100th anniversary of the birth of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, former Prime Minister of Israel Menachem Begin and 90th anniversary of the birth of Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, President of the State of Israel Shimon Peres.
