Belarus, China to design energy efficient residential area

MINSK, 22 July (BelTA) – Belarus and China will jointly develop a design of an energy efficient neighborhood, Architecture and Construction Minister of Belarus Anatoly Nichkasov told reporters on 19 July, BelTA has learnt.

According to the minister, during the official visit of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to China members of the Belarusian delegation toured the Olympic village that was built in Beijing using energy efficient technologies. “When they told us about engineering facilities in this big residential area, I realized that we should suggest building a similar neighborhood in Belarus together with China. After all, energy efficient construction has not lost its relevance in our country,” Anatoly Nichkasov said.

Thus, the two parties agreed to design such a neighborhood. The work will be done at one of Minsk-based design offices. The joint solutions will be tested on the territory of Belarus, the minister added.
