Debate of Belarusian NPP EIA report with Lithuanian public scheduled for 17 August

MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) – A meeting with Lithuanian public and professionals to discuss the report on environmental impact assessment (EIA) of the construction of the Belarusian nuclear power plant will be held at the NPP information center in Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast, on 17 August, reads the announcement posted on the official Internet site of the Belarusian Embassy in Lithuania, BelTA learned.

Public discussion will be held in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee on the Implementation of the Espoo Convention. Questions and comments on the public discussion can be sent by e-mail or regular mail to the Embassy of Belarus in Lithuania, and by e-mail to the Directorate for the Construction of the Nuclear Power Plant till 17 August. The addresses are listed at the website of the Embassy.

The website of the Embassy also has the Internet links to the EIA report in Lithuanian, Russian and English.

Answers to questions and comments can be found on the Internet sites of the Directorate for the Construction of the Nuclear Power Plant and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Protection of Belarus.

It was also reported that the Embassy of Belarus in Lithuania will offer free visa support to the Lithuanian citizens who wish to participate in the meeting. The Belarusian side will ensure transportation of the event participants from the border crossing "Kamenny Log to Ostrovets and back. Departure of buses is scheduled for 10h45.
