EEC eases declaration rules for international road haulage vehicles

MOSCOW, 17 July (BelTA) - The Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) relaxed the requirements concerning the declaration of the vehicles used in international road haulage. The information is contained in the amendments to earlier resolutions of the Customs Union Commission adopted at the session of the EEC Board on 16 July, BelTA learnt from the press service of the EEC.

The amendments aim to create more favorable conditions for road haulage carriers registered in the Customs Union member states. The decision is based on the analysis of the proposals from customs bodies, associations of carriers and foreign economic agents of the Customs Union member countries.

Carriers will be able to declare the vehicles used in international road haulage with the help of the vehicle registration certificate. At the customs border the carrier will only need to show this registration certificate. The procedures concerning the registration of such vehicles will be relaxed. Customs declaration of the vehicles registered in the Customs Union member states and used in international road haulage which move in and out will be carried out without customs officials making any marks in the certificate.

“The simplified procedures aim to shorten the queues at the border crossings, make maximum use of paperless technologies in customs operations and create favorable conditions for carriers which provide haulage services,” EEC Minister for Customs Cooperation Vladimir Goshin noted.

The EEC Board also adopted a draft memorandum of mutual understanding in the area of cooperation in antimonopoly policy and antimonopoly regulation between the EEC and the National Development and Reform Commission of China. The EEC Board approved a draft memorandum of cooperation in the area of competition policy between the EEC and the Interstate Council for Antimonopoly Policy.
