Belarus to set up public electronic patent database

MINSK, 17 July (BelTA) - The National Scientific and Technical Library of Belarus is in the middle of creating a public electronic patent database, BelTA learnt from Aide to the Chairman of the State Science and technology Committee of Belarus Yuri Lukashevich.

“The electronic database will help optimize and simplify the search of information about the registered and formalized international patents and inventions,” Yuri Lukashevich noted.

The resource will be easy to use. Several words typed in the search field will be enough to find the information needed. All visitors of the National Scientific and Technical Library will have access to the database.

In H1 2013 the National Scientific and Technical Library served about 135,000 people and over 1,200 enterprises and organizations from all oblasts of Belarus. About 2.6 million documents were given out to readers. As of 1 July the total fund of the library and its branches was increased by 433,000 copies to reach 52 million copies.
