Belarus, Russia hold ministerial consultations on combating new challenges

MINSK, 5 July (BelTA) – Minsk played host to the Belarus-Russia ministerial consultations on countering new challenges and threats on 4 July, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.

The Belarusian delegation was headed by Deputy Director of the Department for International Security and Arms Control of the Foreign Ministry Alexander Ponomaryov, the Russian one by Deputy Director of the Department for New Challenges and Threats of the Russian Foreign Ministry Vladimir Salov.

The sides exchanged theirs assessments of terrorist threat in the CIS within the context of the developments on the international arena. The delegations reviewed the Belarus-Russia bilateral and international cooperation in the fight against terrorism, drug trafficking, organized crime and also in the field of international information security.

Discussion of the issues related to the cooperation in countering new challenges and threats will be continued at the CIS ministerial consultations on 5 July.
