Braslav to host international sports and music festival

VITEBSK, 5 July (BelTA) - The international sports and music festival Viva Braslau will kick off in Braslav, Vitebsk Oblast, on 5 July, BelTA learnt from the Braslav District Executive Committee.

The festival will open with a regatta on Lake Drivyaty. Partaking in the regatta will be about 10 crews, including one international crew that includes sportsmen from Belarus, Russia and Germany. On 6 July beach football, beach volleyball, darts and kayak competitions will be held at the town’s beach. The local stadium will host the international youth’s pop music competition Bella Melodiya 2013 that will be followed by a performance of the Leisver rock group, a fire show, fireworks and a night disco.

Taking part in the festival will be sports teams and young singers from border regions of Belarus, Latvia and Lithuania (Vitebsk Oblast, Latgale and Aukstaitija respectively).

The international sports and music festival Viva Braslau is held as part of the project “Enhancing Tourism Potential in the Latgale-Utena-Vitebsk area” (Bella Dvina 2). The project is part of the cross-border cooperation program of Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus. The budget of the project is €1.7 million, 90% of which comes from co-financing by the European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument.
