Minsk, Vientiane sign memorandum of friendship and cooperation

MINSK, 2 July (BelTA) – Minsk and Vientiane (Lao People's Democratic Republic) concluded a memorandum of friendship and cooperation. The signing ceremony was held at the Minsk City Council on 1 July, BelTA has learnt.

The signatories are determined to expand cooperation in economy, healthcare, education and to exchange visits on a regular basis.

“The conclusion of the memorandum is a landmark event for the capitals of the two countries. We hope that it will open a new page in our relations and give an impetus to new mutually beneficial projects,” Minsk Mayor Nikolai Ladutko said.

Vientiane Vice Mayor Anouphab Tunalom stressed the importance of the meeting and said that it will help establish direct contacts between the business circles and authorities of the two cities and help intensify cultural ties.

“We have got a good impression of Minsk. We envision great cooperation prospects and are ready to adopt your experience,” Anouphab Tunalom said.

The participants of the meeting at the Minsk City Council discussed establishment of joint ventures to assemble MTZ tractors and MAZ machines, education of Lao students in Minsk, joint production of mineral resources.
