Myasnikovich, Popovkin to discuss joint company for satellite constellation operation

MINSK, 27 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia agreed on the creation of a joint company to operate the joint satellite constellation, Head of the Federal Space Agency of Russia (Roscosmos) Vladimir Popovkin told media ahead of the meeting with Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich on 27 June.

Such a company will allows using and distributing pictures from outer space more efficiently, Vladimir Popovkin believes.

In his words, the sides are due to discuss the prospects for further development of relations, including in the use of the potential of the Belarusian companies in Russian space programs. In particular, the Russian side thinks of at least blocking shareholding in the authorized fund of the Belarusian company Peleng. “The Belarusian company Peleng needs guaranteed cooperation and orders from Russia. One of the ways to guarantee it is to take part in its authorized capital,” Vladimir Popovkin said.

Besides, the Premier of Belarus and the Roscosmos head plan to take stock of the practical exploitation of the Belarusian satellite.
