Russia approves draft readmission agreement with Belarus

MOSCOW, 25 June (BelTA) – The Russian government approved the draft readmission agreement with Belarus and an executive protocol on its implementation. The relevant decree was signed by Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The agreement regulates the procedure of extradition and readmission of third-country nationals and stateless people who stay or reside on the territory of the requesting party with the violation of the law. “The document settles the terms for extradition and readmission of foreign nationals, the terms for submitting and considering requests on readmission or transit of third-country nationals or stateless people,” the government said.

The executive protocol contains the rules for the competent bodies of the parties and distribution of authorities among them, the contents and the order of submitting a request on readmission or transit of third-country nationals or stateless people.

The Federal Migration Service of Russia has been instructed to hold negotiations with the Belarusian side and sign the relevant documents.
