Belarus freezes raw hide exports

MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) – Belarus has imposed a temporary ban on raw hide exports. The decision is approved by the Council of Ministers’ resolution of 14 June 2013, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian government.

The ban on the export of raw cattlehide is introduced from 20 June to 1 November 2013. The Foreign Ministry of Belarus will inform the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) and will submit to the EEC proposals on the application of this measure by other Customs Union members.

Customs duties on raw hide exports have been introduced in Belarus in order to prevent its deficit in the country in line with Decree No. 40 of 1 February 2011 “Concerning customs duties on raw hide exports”. The document envisages customs duties on the exports of raw hide from Belarus outside the borders of the Eurasian Economic Community.
