Belarus, Lithuania to sign joint action plan in environmental protection

MINSK, 10 June (BelTA) – The State Inspection for Fauna and Flora Protection under the aegis of the President of Belarus and the Environmental Protection Agency of the Ministry of Environment of Lithuania will sign a cooperation plan in the field of environmental protection that will run in 2014-2018, BelTA learnt from the State Inspection for Fauna and Flora Protection.

The document is to be concluded during the meeting of representatives of these agencies that will be held in the Lithuanian city of Silute on 12-14 June.

The parties will review the results of joint efforts to protect the environment, discuss measures to prevent poaching in the near-border areas during the spring season. They will also discuss plans of Belarus’ environmental protection agencies to join the European environmental control system.

The Belarusian delegation will tour regional parks of the Neman delta, Rusne fish breeding facility, Silute forestry company and other facilities.
