Decision on Belarus-Russia oil balance in June

MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – The decision on the Belarus-Russia oil balance will be made in June. The statement was made by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Belarus Alexander Surikov on 7 June, BelTA has learned.

“I think the oil balance will favor the Belarusian side,” said the Ambassador.

He remarked that up till now decisions on the oil balance had been made on a quarterly basis and the applications of the Belarusian side were registered in Q1 and Q2 2013 taking into account the annual expected shipment of 23 million tonnes.

“The sides are supposed to decide on the next balance by 15 June. It is difficult for me to predict whether it will be a six-month balance or another three-month one, whether Belarus’ interests will be taken into account the way they were in Q1 and Q2, but I think they will be. There is no particular tension on oil markets, there is no shortage,” said the diplomat.
