Grodno Oblast to hold fair in Moscow in April

MOSCOW, 27 March (BelTA) – An extensive fair of Grodno Oblast will be arranged in Moscow at the end of April. This decision has been made at a meeting of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Igor Petrishenko with Prefect of the Northwestern Administrative Area of Moscow Vladimir Goverdovsky, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Embassy.

“Igor Petrishenko and Vladimir Goverdovsky believe that it is a good idea to jointly organize Belarusian fairs in the administrative area. They agreed that more Belarusian regional fairs should be held in Moscow, in the Northwestern Administrative Area in particular. Therefore, an agreement was reached to arrange an extensive regional fair of Grodno Oblast on the territory of the administrative area at the end of April. The program of the fair includes presentations of economic potential of the region, its cultural and historical heritage, and sports events,” the press service informed.

During the meeting the parties discussed in detail a number of key areas of cooperation between Belarus and the Northwestern Administrative Area. They analyzed the implementation of earlier agreements and reviewed the new approaches of the Moscow Government to foreign economic affairs and regional ties.

“The parties mulled over joint efforts to expand mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation not only with Grodno Oblast, but also with other interested Belarusian regions,” the press service informed.

Igor Petrishenko invited the prefect to be a guest of honor at the solemn events timed to the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia that will be held in Moscow on 2 April.
