Agriculture ministries of Belarus, Indonesia sign memorandum of understanding

MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – The agriculture ministries of Belarus and Indonesia have concluded a memorandum of understanding in a bid to expand cooperation in agriculture, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Agriculture and Food Ministry of Belarus.

The memorandum of understanding between the Agriculture and Food Ministry of the Republic of Belarus and the Agriculture Ministry of the Republic of Indonesia was signed in Jakarta during the state visit of President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to Indonesia.

The document creates a legal framework for cooperation between the agriculture ministries of Belarus and Indonesia. This document is expected to facilitate direct economic and academic contacts between agricultural companies, organizations and research facilities of the two countries. This is expected to diversify the trade and strengthen Belarus’ positions on the market of Indonesia.

In line with the document, the sides will focus on cooperation in crop growing, animal breeding, veterinary medicine, mechanization of agriculture, management of water resources, and research projects.

The parties will update each other about laws and regulations in agriculture, share information about new technologies in crop growing and animal breeding, veterinary science and production of new foods, provide assistance in setting up joint ventures in agricultural production and processing. The sides are set to hold a variety of events, like fairs, exhibitions, seminars, conferences and symposiums. They will also launch joint research and training programs and exchange specialists.

The agriculture ministries will set up a joint task group on agriculture to coordinate cooperation efforts and forge new ties. The group will be led by deputy ministers.
