Governor: Omsk Oblast ready to offer its projects to Belarus

MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) - Omsk Oblast is ready to implement its projects in Belarus, Omsk Governor Viktor Nazarov said in a meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk, BelTA learned.

Viktor Nazarov pointed out that for Omsk Oblast Belarus is the main foreign economic partner. He drew attention to the rising bilateral trade and expressed confidence that Belarus and Omsk Oblast will raise the cooperation to a new quality level.

According to the Governor, 11 joint ventures operate in Omsk Oblast today. "We are not only ready to host Belarusian joint ventures but also come to Belarus with our own projects," said Viktor Nazarov.

The Governor offered Belarus to expand its presence in the agricultural machinery market of Omsk Oblast. He noted that Omsk Oblast is a kind of an outpost in the Far East. "If we fail to extend the joint production and sale of agricultural machinery, this niche will be occupied by, for example, the People's Republic of China," he said, noting that the demand for Belarusian agricultural equipment is high in the region.

A delegation of Omsk Oblast comprising officials and about 50 representatives of business community are in Belarus on a visit. Viktor Nazarov underlined the readiness of Omsk Oblast to further develop the bilateral cooperation in all areas interesting for the business.

“Russians and Belarusians have always been fraternal nations, close in spirit, united by shared history and shared destiny. The formation of the Single Economic Space will bring the two nations even closer and open up new horizons for further cooperation,” the Governor believes.
