International festival of church music to be held in Mogilev 24-28 June

MOGILEV, 7 March (BelTA) - The international festival of church music "Mighty God" will take place in Mogilev on 24-28 June, BelTA learnt from Ms Irina Zhabbarova, deputy head of the culture department of the Mogilev City Council.

The music festival will not change its traditions, which have been developed over the past twenty years. Lovers of church music look forward to performances by the well-known choirs, singers and musicians from the CIS and other countries. This year we have received the participation applications from Belarus, Russia, Georgia, Armenia, Italy, the United States and other countries. The festival program will feature a lot of exhibitions, conferences, recitals, concerts. Local Protestant volunteers undertook to arrange an interesting youth program of the festival, Irina Zhabbarova said.

This year, the regional center will host the international festival of church music in the status of the Capital of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and the CIS. This is an honor and special responsibility for us. We are planning to focus on spirituality, and use a lot of open venues. The gala concert, like last year, will be held at the Spartak Stadium so that as many people as possible could attend and enjoy the high art, Irina Zhabbarova said.

Negotiations are underway with such renowned ensembles as Vladimir Spivakov’s Virtuosos of Moscow Orchestra, the choir of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra and many others. One of the main events of the festival will be the traditional competition among choirs. The jury will be headed by Stanislav Kalinin, Honored Artist of Russia, Professor, head of the choral department at the Belarusian Academy of Music.
