Belarus, UK confirm readiness for open and pragmatic dialogue

MINSK, 6 March (BelTA) – Belarus and the United Kingdom have confirmed readiness for an open and pragmatic dialogue. On 5 March Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to the United Kingdom Sergei Aleinik met with Mr Colin Roberts, Director for Eastern Europe and Central Asia of the Foreign Office, at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

The parties exchanged the views on the prospects of the development of bilateral relations between Belarus and the United Kingdom in the political, trade, economic, humanitarian and cultural areas.

The parties confirmed readiness for an open and pragmatic dialogue with a view to boosting the equal and mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation and the Belarus-EU cooperation.

The participants of the meeting also discussed the development of the legal framework of the bilateral relations, further interaction within the Eastern Partnership Initiative, and humanitarian Chernobyl programs.

The meeting also considered the regional cooperation, contracts in education, science and culture. An agreement was reached to maintain regular contacts.
