Lukashenko hails dynamic development of Belarus-Turkmenistan relations

MINSK, 31 May (BelTA) – Relations between Belarus and Turkmenistan have been increasingly vibrant, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Annamukhammet Gochyev in Minsk on 31 May, BelTA learned from the presidential press service.

“We have reached good results of work with Turkmenistan recently. The bilateral trade exceeds $300 million,” the Belarusian head of state said.

“Perhaps, this is the second country after Venezuela where we pursue large-scale projects. For example, we are building a mining and processing plant to produce potash fertilizers in Turkmenistan. I think that we will cope with this request of your President in time,” the Belarusian leader remarked.

On behalf of the Belarusian people Alexander Lukashenko extended the best wishes to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and thanked him for friendly relations which exist between Belarus and Turkmenistan. “Whenever we addressed Turkmenistan President for help he would always respond. Belarus appreciates it,” the Belarusian head of state said.

Alexander Lukashenko added that the leaders of the two countries are going to discuss prospects of bilateral cooperation in the near future.

Annamukhammet Gochyev also pointed out recent active development of relations between the two countries. He thanked Belarus for the high level of organization of the Summit of the CIS Heads of Government in Minsk. The official also wished Belarus prosperity on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan and invited the Belarusian head of state to visit Turkmenistan at any time convenient.
