Belarus and Serbia have great prospects for cooperation in agriculture, Kostic says

BELGRADE, 18 May (BelTA) - Belarus and Serbia have great prospects for cooperation in agriculture, President Serbian Business Club "Entrepreneur", President of MK Group Mr Miodrag Kostic told reporters.

"Belarus has a well-developed agriculture industry. On this front, it is an organized country,” said Miodrag Kostic.

He said that Serbia is also one of the most developed agricultural regions in the former Yugoslavia, and Belarus and Serbia have great prospects for cooperation in this area. "Belarus has a very well-developed infrastructure. Therefore we can combine the know-how of Serbia with the infrastructure in Belarus. This can help us increase exports from Belarus to Serbia and Serbian imports not only to the countries of the Customs Union but also to the markets of other countries,” said Miodrag Kostic.

He said that MK Group is also planning to increase its presence in of Belarus. For example, in Gomel Oblast the Serbian agricultural company is now selecting the sites for new farms which will apply the Serbian best knowledge in the field of agriculture.

Over the years Belarus and Serbia have developed good political relations. Yet, the economic ties are lagging behind. “Our meetings will help ensure that Serbian and Belarusian businessmen find ways for closer cooperation. Besides, Belarus has a well-developed machine-building industry. Yet, like any other country, Belarus needs long-term investments and new technologies,” said the businessman.

Miodrag Kostic invited Serbian companies to visit Belarus and get familiar with the terms of doing business, and to consider the possibilities of cooperation with Belarusian partners.
