CIS, Georgia, EU to discuss rail transport management

MINSK, 6 May (BelTA) – A delegation of the Belarusian Railways is in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on 6-7 May for the 58th meeting of the CIS Rail Transport Council, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Railways.

Partaking in the event are also representatives of Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Bulgaria and Finland. The Belarusian delegation is led by Head of the Belarusian Railways Vladimir Morozov.

According to the press service, the agenda of the meeting includes 12 issues related to the coordination of actions of the CIS railways in the organization of international passenger and cargo transportation, the joint use of the cargo railcar and container fleet, development of unified regulatory documents.

The participants of the council plan to hold bilateral meetings between heads of the rail administrations and also get familiar with the rail system of Tajikistan.

The CIS Rail Transport Council was set up in 1992 for joint elaboration of principles of operation of the rail transport at the international level. The council secures practical cooperation between the relevant administrations of the CIS, Baltic states, Finland and Bulgaria.
