Belarus, Brazil to hold regular political consultations

MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) – The Foreign Ministries of the Republic of Belarus and the Federative Republic of Brazil have signed a memorandum of understanding and agreed to hold regular political consultations. The document was signed during a visit of the Belarusian delegation headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Guryanov to Brazil on 11 November 2013, BelTA has learnt from the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.

Alexander Guryanov met with Carlos Paranhos, Under-Secretary General for Political Affairs of the Brazilian Ministry of External Relations. The sides held political consultations and discussed a range of bilateral and regional issues.

Alexander Guryanov and Carlos Paranhos discussed the cooperation between Belarus and Brazil in regional integration associations. The sides exchanged their views on the crisis situations in different parts of the world, the reforming of the UN Security Council, and the prospects of Belarus’ joining the WTO. They also discussed the ways of intensifying trade and economic cooperation, diversifying mutual trade, and developing the legal framework of bilateral relations. Alexander Guryanov also communicated the position of Belarus on the protection of human rights.

Representatives of Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ), Belarusian Potash Company (BPC), Belarusian automobile engineering company (BelAZ), and Gomselmash met with Brazilian businessmen at the Belarusian Embassy in Brazil on 11 November and discussed trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Alexander Guryanov presented a consular patent to Honorary Consul of Belarus to the city of Goiania Pedro Bittar.
