Visa abolition to boost Israel-Belarus tourism cooperation

VITEBSK, 11 November (BelTA) – Visa abolition will give a powerful impetus to tourism development between Israel and Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Belarus Yosef Shagal said as he met with Vitebsk Oblast Governor Alexander Kosinets, BelTA has learnt.

According to the diplomat, there are a lot of people in Israel of the Belarusian descent. Many would like to visit this country, including for tourism purposes. Representatives of the Jewish diaspora in Belarus show similar wishes of visiting Israel. The visa regime and high cost of tickets of the airline conducting direct flights between Belarus and Israel are the main constraints on the way of developing bilateral tourism. Their elimination will open up a huge field of operation in the area, Yosef Shagal is confident.

The diplomat expressed confidence that the visa issue would be addressed in the near future.

Yosef Shagal and Alexander Kosinets also discussed the development of the Belarusian-Israeli agro-industrial park in Vitebsk Oblast, concrete proposals for business initiatives of Israeli investors.
