Wider range of goods for Belarus-Turkey trade

MINSK, 11 October (BelTA) - Belarus and Turkey have agreed to expand the range of goods in bilateral trade, including supplies of plywood, upholstery fabric, furniture and tiles. Such an agreement was reached during the visit of a delegation from Bellesbumprom Concern to Turkey, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

The Belarusian Consulate General in Istanbul provided assistance in organizing the visit. The delegation included top executives of the Gomeldrev company, Gomel’s furniture factory Progress, Svetlogorsk Pulp and Board Plant, Zavod Gazetnoy Bumagi [Newsprint Mill], the company Mostovdrev and staff members of Bellesbumprom Concern and the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The delegation attended the international furniture exhibition Intermob and held talks with Turkish business partners.

On 9 October the Belarusian delegation, headed by Consul General Igor Belyi, held talks with Dursun Topcu, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce. The Turkish side was updated on the potential of Belarus’ woodworking and furniture industries. The sides exchanged opinions on the possible ways to expand cooperation.

The Belarusian delegation took part in a business matchmaking session at the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce to discuss ways of developing Belarusian-Turkish ties in the aforementioned areas.

Another matter under discussion were the supplies of Belarusian cellulose and paper products to Turkey.

The Turkish companies expressed interest in the establishment of joint ventures including for the sake of tapping into third countries’ markets in the future.
