Belarusian Transport & Logistics Congress opens in Minsk

MINSK, 9 October (BelTA) - Representatives of 15 countries will attend the Belarusian Transport & Logistics Congress to coordinate the activities in the development of international transport corridors, BelTA learned from Pavel Bozhanov, the head of transport and logistics at the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus.

A plenary discussion of the Belarusian Transport & Logistics Congress opened in Minsk on 9 October. It focuses on the ways of development of international transport corridors through the territory of Belarus. Attending the event are representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the State Customs Committee, the transport departments of Lithuania and Latvia. The issues of cooperation to ensure transit in the context of the Single Economic Space are also on the agenda.

The main thing about such events is the exchange of views. We need to coordinate activities, to determine how to work in the future. We have here officials of the government bodies, public associations and organizations,” said Pavel Bozhanov. He noted that Belarus is hosting Secretary General of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) Umberto De Pretto. "We want to hear his views in light of the new developments in international road transport in Russia," said Pavel Bozhanov.

According to Pavel Bozhanov, remarks and comments made at the congress will make part of a resolution to be adopted following the congress. The results will be announced at the conclusion of all the activities of the Belarusian Transport Week which will last until 10 October.

The program of the congress features a series of debates, seminars, roundtables and conferences. Among them is the international workshop "Electronic means of communication in supply chains", the conference "Public transport is the basis of urban (regional) mobility" and a meeting of the IRU Regional Committee to the EurAsEC.
