Over 20 Belarus-China investment projects in progress

MINSK, 9 October (BelTA) - More than 20 major Belarusian-Chinese investment projects are at various stages of implementation, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Tozik said at the opening ceremony of China’s (Heilongjiang) trade show in Minsk, BelTA learned.

More than 20 major joint investment projects have been implemented, in progress or in the pipeline in Belarus. Under these projects China's banks have issued $5.5 billion in loans,” said Anatoly Tozik. Work is underway on a major project to build the Belarusian-Chinese industrial park which will house the world’s best companies. Heilongjiang Province and Harbin city also decided to become the founders of this park, which will ensure even more successful implementation of the project, Anatoly Tozik noted.

Two joint ventures to produce Belarusian tractors and combine harvesters operate in Heilongjiang Province, Anatoly Tozik informed. The companies have been created jointly with Minsk Tractor Works and Gomselmash. Anatoly Tozik expressed hope that the talks which will take place within the framework of the trade show will result in new projects.

The first Chinese (Heilongjiang) trade show is a clear confirmation of the fact that Belarus-China relationship have reached a qualitatively new level. Belarus has a special relationship with Heilongjiang Province. It is the only province of China with which the Belarusian government has a joint commission on trade and industrial cooperation. Anatoly Tozik also expressed the hope that similar events will be held on a regular basis.

The first Chinese (Heilongjiang) trade show in Minsk will be running until 11 October. The exposition at the Belexpo pavilion will feature the projects and exhibits of more than 80 Chinese companies operating in sectors such as energy, engineering, construction, agriculture, light industry and pharmaceutics. The event has been organized with the assistance of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
