Union State MPs to attend IPU Assembly in Geneva

MOSCOW, 3 October (BelTA) – A delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of Belarus-Russia Union State is expected to attend as observers the 129th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamnetary Union (IPU) and related events in Geneva on 7-9 October, BelTA learnt from the PA press service.

The delegation will be led by Chairman of the PA’s Commission for Foreign Policy, Chairman of the Belarusian Council of the Republic's permanent commission for international affairs and national security Vladimir Senko.

The IPU Assembly agenda will include the issues such as the role of parliaments on the way towards a nuclear-weapon-free world, demographic trends and natural constraints in risk-resilient development, the role of parliaments in protecting the rights of children, in particular unaccompanied migrant children, and in preventing their exploitation in situations of war and conflict, as well as cooperation between the IPU and the United Nations.
