Belarus to observe presidential elections in Azerbaijan, Tajikistan

MINSK, 2 October (BelTA) – Belarusian MPs will take part in the international presidential election observation mission in Azerbaijan and Tajikistan, Speaker Vladimir Andreichenko said at the opening of the autumn session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus on 2 October, BelTA has learnt.

Vladimir Andreichenko also informed that the intensive work will be continued within international parliamentary organizations, including the Parliamentary Assembly of Belarus-Russia Union State, the Inter-Parliamentary Assemblies of the CIS and the EurAsEC, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. Among the most important events is the adoption of the Union State budget for 2014.

Belarusian Mps will take part in the 42nd plenary session of the General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in Tbilisi as well as in the work of other international organizations.

The forthcoming agenda envisages possible visits of parliamentary delegations from Vietnam, Laos, Nigeria and Turkey as well as preparations for the visits of Belarusian delegation to Ukraine, Estonia and Indonesia.

Addressing the MPs, Vladimir Andreichenko noted: “We have the relevant powers and have a well-established system of cooperation with local authorities. But nothing can replace a direct contact with people. We must not allow red tape in this work. We should meet more often with labor collectives, voters to have a handle on the situation, be able to solve any acute problems. We should not be afraid of debates with opponents. Our task is to defend the interests of the state and the people.”
