Union State defense ministries to discuss military security

MOSCOW, 29 October (BelTA) - A session of the joint board of the Belarusian Defense Ministry and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation will be held in Moscow on 29 October, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry.

The session will review the implementation of a 2013 cooperation plan of the two defense ministries and outline objectives for further development of military integration.

In line with the agenda, the session participants will review the strategic military exercise Zapad 2013 [West 2013]. They are also set to talk over the implementation of the 2013-2015 plans stipulating joint activities of the Belarusian and Russian defense ministries aimed at ensuring military security of the Union State,” the press service underlined.

Another issue under discussion will be a concept of the Union State program designed to improve military infrastructure which will be used by the regional group of the two countries’ troops in 2013-2017. The sides will also discuss the implementation status of the activities specified by an interstate agreement on the joint protection of the outer border of the Union State in the airspace.
