Belarus to support China's candidacy in elections to UNESCO Executive Board

MINSK, 21 October (BelTA) – Belarus will support the candidacy of China in the elections to the UNESCO Executive Board to be held at the 37th session of the UNESCO General Conference in November 2013, BelTA leant from the Belarusian Embassy in Paris.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France, Belarus permanent representative in UNESCO Pavel Latushko discussed this issue during a meeting with China permanent representative in UNESCO You Shaozhong. The meeting was initiated by the Belarusian side.

Pavel Latushko informed the Chinese side about Belarus’ decision to support China’ candidacy in the UNESCO Executive Board elections. You Shaozhong thanked Belarus for the support of China in the elections to the UNESCO executive body. He assured that the Chinese government highly appreciates the Belarusian support.

The Belarusian Ambassador informed the Chinese diplomat on the events that Belarus is planning to hold in 2014 to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its membership in UNESCO. Pavel Latushko also briefed You Shaozhong about the preparations for the Days of Belarusian Culture in France planned for next year.
