Belarus, Poland, Ukraine team up for knowledge transfer project in tourism

GRODNO, 30 September (BelTA) – Belarus, Poland and Ukraine are implementing a project “Planet of Ideas – cross-border transfer of knowledge in the area of attracting investments for development of border tourism” in Grodno, Sergei Koleda, coordinator of the project, representative of the Grodno Oblast Office of the National Tourism and Sports Union, told BelTA.

The project slated for implementation in 2013-2014 is aimed at strengthening cooperation between Polish, Belarusian and Ukrainian institutions operating in the tourism market in order to work out and implement joint cross border projects through experience and information sharing.

Among the partners of the project is Grodno Oblast Office of the National Tourism and Sports Union, the Department of Sports and Tourism of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee, Volyn Regional Entrepreneurship Support Fund (Lutsk, Ukraine), Innovation and Development Support Center (Bialystok, Poland). The budget of the project is nearly €350,000.

The project envisages a preparation of applications for participation in cross-border cooperation programs, training of target groups and publication of methodical literature on international project activities, development of promotional materials.

The the project will help enhance the training level of human resources for joint implementation of cross-border projects in tourism, promote an increased interest in such cooperation from non-government organizations, local authorities, tourism and information centers of the border regions of the three countries.
