Belarus joins CE’s Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings

MINSK, 18 September (BelTA) – Head of Belarus’ mission in the Council of Europe Dmitry Yarmolyuk handed an official letter on the country's joining the Council of Europe’s Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings to Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland on 17 September, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus.

According to the Foreign Ministry, the CE Secretary General welcomed Belarus’ step and expressed hope for further development of a constructive dialogue between Minsk and the Strasbourg organization.

The parties also discussed mutual relations between Belarus and the Council of Europe, including the prospects for Belarus’ accession to other legal mechanisms and structures of the Council of Europe.
