Belarus-Moldova trade up 12.2% in January-July

CHISINAU, 16 September (BelTA) – In January-July 2013 the trade between Belarus and Moldova totaled $215.1 million, up 12.2% in comparison with the same period a year ago, BelTA learnt from the Embassy of Belarus in Moldova.

Over the seven months of 2013 Belarus’ exports to Moldova rose by 11.6% to $164.9 million, imports of Moldavian products increased by 14.2% to $50.2 million. Belarus’ trade surplus made up $114.7 million, up 10.4% on the same period last year.

In January-July Belarus considerably increased supplies of dairy products to Moldova as well as supplies of potato, trucks, liquid pipes, pharmaceutical drugs.

At the same time Belarus raised imports of Moldavian fresh vegetables and fruit, wines and cognacs, pharmaceutical drugs, gypsum.

Belarus’ main exports to Moldova include tractors, trolleybuses, tires, fiberglass, ceramic tiles, pharmaceuticals, light industrial goods, refrigerators, washing machines, dairy products, potato. Belarus imports Moldavian wine-making materials and grape wines, strong drinks, corn seeds, vegetables, fruits, extraction cake, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, gypsum.

In 2012 Belarus-Moldova trade made up $338.5 million, up 5.9% over the previous year. Moldova is Belarus’ important trade and economic partner. The country ranks 16th in Belarusian exports and 4th in the CIS trade and exports (behind Russia, Ukraine and Kazakhstan).
