Belarus looks for more Chinese companies in China-Belarus Industrial Park

MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) – The Consulate General of Belarus in Shanghai will work hard to attract more Chinese companies to the China-Belarus Industrial Park, BelTA learnt from Valery Matsel whose appointment as Consul General of Belarus to Shanghai was approved by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on 10 September.

Valery Matsel stressed that China is the key vector in the Belarusian foreign policy. Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko paid a visit to the People Republic of China in July 2013. A week ago Minsk was visited by Member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Liu Yunshan. The Belarusian Premier is expected to pay a visit to China this year too.

According to the Consul General, Shanghai is a powerful economic and financial center of China: “The district within the scope of the activity of our Consulate General is a huge territory with the population of up to 325 million, never mind Shanghai with nearly 24 million people. it is the country’s economic locomotive, its powerful hub where we can find an outlet for our potential in what concerns exports and investments including FDI. These are the tasks set forth by the President of Belarus.”

Valery Matsel stressed that Shanghai is known for its leading companies in high technologies, electronics and engineering. The parties have already achieved the first results of the joint work. It is the Belarusian-Chinese joint company to produce BelGee cars. The project is implemented with the participation of China’s biggest automaker from the province which makes part of the district of the Consul General of Belarus in Shanghai.

The goals are ambitious, and the economic vector is a priority,” Valery Matsel emphasized.
