Belarus, Portugal discuss ways to resume ministerial consultations

MINSK, 11 September (BelTA) – Belarus and Portugal are looking into the prospects of resuming bilateral ministerial consultations. The issue was highlighted at the meeting of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France and Portugal on concurrent Pavel Latushko and Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal Ana Martinho on 10 September, BelTA learnt from the Belarusian embassy in France.

The parties exchanged opinions on a wide range of the Belarusian-Portuguese relations. The sides emphasized importance in intensifying trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Portugal. The diplomat presented Belarus’ approaches towards the development of a legal framework between Belarus and Portugal.

While in Lisbon as new Ambassador of Belarus, Pavel Latushko held several meetings. In particular, the Belarusian diplomat met with Vice President of the Portugal Trade and Investment Agency (AICEP) Pedro Pessoa Costa to discuss proposals for intensifying economic and investment cooperation between Belarus and Portugal, possible business visits and contacts in the tourism sector.

A draft agreement on cooperation between the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Portugal was submitted for Portugal’s consideration.
