Belarusians can stay 90 days in Russia without registering with migration service

MOSCOW (BelTA) – The terms of stay of Belarusian citizens in Russia and Russian citizens in Belarus will be increased in the Union State, Russian Stats-Secretary - Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin said at the opening of the media forum "Discovering the Union State: from Brest to Vladivostok", BelTA has learned.

Belarus and Russia are preparing the protocol on introducing the amendments and additions to the interstate agreement on equal rights of citizens to freedom of movement and choice of place of residence in the territory of the states members of the Union State.

"The protocol is expected to set a longer period of stay of our citizens in the territory of the Union State without registering with the migration services – 90 days. This is a fait accompli,” said Grigory Karasin. At the moment Belarusians, for example, can stay 30 days in Russia without registration.

The Russian Foreign Ministry official reported that the Russian Foreign Ministry in conjunction with the Federal Migration Service and other agencies are working on the establishment of a common visa space. "This is a solid foundation for the development of another area of integration - a humanitarian and tourist space, both for domestic tourists and foreign customers in the future," said Grigory Karasin.

The media forum "Discovering the Union State: from Brest to Vladivostok" opened in Moscow on 11 November. It is attended by more than 60 Belarusian and Russian experts and journalists who are discussing ways to increase tourist attractiveness of the Union State.
