Beltelecom increases domestic data network throughput to 1.2Tbps

Minsk (BelTA) In September the Belarusian telecommunication company Beltelecom completed another phase of modernization of the backbone data network that connects Minsk with all the oblast capitals. Thanks to this the throughput capacity of the domestic data network has increased to 1.2Tbps, Beltelecom’s press service told BelTA.

The source noted that the network’s stability is secured by 100% redundancy of the equipment and three separate cables used to deliver traffic to each oblast capital. The increase in the throughput capacity will create prerequisites for expanding the choice of point-to-point communication services for different types of traffic and will secure support for various service and quality classes in compliance with recommendations of the International Telecommunication Union. The equipment supports IPv6 packet routing and data transfer speeds as high as 100Gbps per interface.

The data network uses Beltelecom’s proprietary fiber optic infrastructure. It allows exceptional transparency of service quality monitoring at all levels.

The expansion will allow greatly increasing the number of clients and partners connected to Beltelecom’s network and providing affordable telecommunication services such as high-speed Internet access, interactive digital television, dedicated VPN channels and IP telephony. The press service added that by relying on cutting-edge technologies the company can already create a powerful infrastructure able to satisfy any demands of the modern market in compliance with international standards.
